Grade 1 BIO

lori holbrook banks

I have been teaching for 25+ years. I have taught in Pleasant Hill and the last 10+ years in San Ramon. Most of my teaching career has been in first and second grade. The biggest joy for me is seeing children learn how to read and develop a love for books. I wanted to be a teacher all my life since the first grade. It is fitting that first grade is where I have spent the majority of my career.

I have been married for 20+ years to my husband Tom and have 3 children. I have two grown boys Brandon and Michael and a teen daughter Taylor.  I love to spend time with my family on the beach and going out to dinner and the movies.

In my spare time I like to work on my house (decorating), gardening and going shopping.

Hello! I am a first grade teacher here at Coyote Creek. I've been teaching here since 2002. Ever since I was in elementary school, one of my goals in life was to become a teacher. I had some amazing teachers growing up and I felt the longing to follow in their footsteps. To achieve my goal, I received my teaching credential and Masters Degree in the Art of Teaching from the University of San Francisco back in 1999. Previously I taught Kindergarten in the San Mateo/Foster City School District. I truly love what I do and I feel so fortunate to be teaching in such a great community.

My husband, Bill, and I have two sons, Michael and Nicholas, Both of our boys continue to amaze us each and every day. It's an extraordinary experience seeing how quickly children change and how grown up they become. You just don't want to blink!

When I am not in the classroom, I enjoy being with my family, exploring new places, taking walks with our Labrador, Mollie, reading, swimming, and spending time at our family cabin up in Lake Tahoe.

Looking forward to a fun and fabulous year learning!

I am excited to be part of the First Grade Team again this year!  I joined the Coyote Creek staff in 2013 as a kindergarten teacher. Before that, I worked in the Rainbow program at Quail Run and taught Pre-K.  I have a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology from Cal State East Bay and received my teaching credential from CalState Teach.

My husband and I live in Danville and we have three children.  Our oldest daughter is married and lives in Denver. She also teaches 1st grade.  Our son is married and lives in Davis. Our youngest daughter is in college in Denver.  In my free time, I enjoy gardening and baking. I love teaching because I get to help children learn about their world, build new skills, and develop an enthusiasm for reading. I'm looking forward to another exciting year in first grade!

Welcome to Room 8! In first grade, all my Coyote Pups will make great friends, blossom into amazing readers and writers, and enjoy Coyote Creek to the fullest.

My teaching career started in 1992 after graduating from the University of Maryland. All of my classroom experiences has been in the primary grades, teaching in Maryland, New Hampshire and now California.

My husband, Peter and I have two wonderful kids, Cameron and Emily. Cameron attends the University of Portland while Emily is a student at California High School. Our family has a dog name Thunder and an elderly cat named Nemo. On weekends, I’m either at yoga or enjoying a long hike with the family and Thunder. Afterwards, I like to curl up with a good book and a cup of tea.

I'm looking forward to another fun and fantastic year with the Coyote Creek Community.

I can only remember wanting to be a teacher. I love working with children and seeing the sparkle in their eyes when they accomplish a hard task or the excitement in their smile when they make a new friend. I have been teaching at Coyote Creek since its doors opened in 2000. I had previously taught 3 years in another district. I have taught both third and first grade. I received my BA from Fresno State and my credential from Chapman University.

My husband and I are the proud parents of two children, Addison and Trevor. Spending time with them is my favorite thing to do. I love watching them grow
