Coyote Creek was one of three elementary schools in the SRVUSD that started a Prism Club for our students during the 2020/2021 school year. This student club is continuing this year.
Prism club aims to provide a safe and supportive place for LGBTQ+ students and allies to create a community.
At the elementary school level, this club can touch on topics such as family, identity, and respect. It can be a place for LGBTQ+ students and allies to connect and hold space for each other.
The Prism Club promotes a safe and healthy school climate and an anti-bullying message.
General structure for the club meetings:
- ♦Play games to have fun and socialize
- ♦Read a book / watch video clip(s) to spark discussion.
- ♦Spotlight on LGBTQ+ individuals
- ♦Give input as to what we will do at the next meeting.
The Prism Club will meet weekly on Fridays from 12:40 pm to 1:20 pm in the library amphitheatre.
Meetings are open to 4th/5th grade students. Students should bring their lunch or get a school lunch to bring to the meetings. We look forward to your child joining the Prism Club!
