COLETTE BLESSUM

COLETTE BLESSUM

I am excited to be part of the First Grade Team again this year!  I joined the Coyote Creek staff in 2013 as a kindergarten teacher. Before that, I worked in the Rainbow program at Quail Run and taught Pre-K.  I have a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology from Cal State East Bay and received my teaching credential from CalState Teach.

My husband and I live in Danville and we have three children.  Our oldest daughter is married and lives in Denver. She also teaches 1st grade.  Our son is married and lives in Davis. Our youngest daughter is in college in Denver.  In my free time, I enjoy gardening and baking. I love teaching because I get to help children learn about their world, build new skills, and develop an enthusiasm for reading. I'm looking forward to another exciting year in first grade!

Hello! I am a first grade teacher here at Coyote Creek. I've been teaching here since 2002. Ever since I was in elementary school, one of my goals in life was to become a teacher. I had some amazing teachers growing up and I felt the longing to follow in their footsteps. To achieve my goal, I received my teaching credential and Masters Degree in the Art of Teaching from the University of San Francisco back in 1999. Previously I taught Kindergarten in the San Mateo/Foster City School District. I truly love what I do and I feel so fortunate to be teaching in such a great community.

My husband, Bill, and I have two sons, Michael and Nicholas, Both of our boys continue to amaze us each and every day. It's an extraordinary experience seeing how quickly children change and how grown up they become. You just don't want to blink!

When I am not in the classroom, I enjoy being with my family, exploring new places, taking walks with our Labrador, Mollie, reading, swimming, and spending time at our family cabin up in Lake Tahoe.

Looking forward to a fun and fabulous year learning!

Room 8 is Great! In first grade, all my Coyote Pups will make great friends, blossom into amazing readers and writers, and enjoy Coyote Creek to the fullest.

I started my teaching career in 1992 after graduating from the University of Maryland. I've taught primary grades in Maryland, New Hampshire, and California.

My husband, Peter, and I have two children, Cameron and Emily. Cameron and his wife Mila live in Washington, DC. Emily works as a cosmetologist at the August and Ivy Salon in Ornida.

We have a dog named Scout who loves walks and playing with our cat, Salem. On weekends, I enjoy spin class, yoga, pilates, and hiking with my family. Afterwards, curl up with a good book and a cup of tea.

I'm looking forward to a fun and fantastic filled year with the Coyote Creek Community.
