COLLEEN BAIRD

Hello Everyone…I am excited about returning to teach another year here at Coyote Creek Elementary School. I've been teaching here since 2006. It is wonderful to be a member of the 4th Grade Team and a part the supportive Coyote Creek community.  I look forward to a positive year filled with many memories and learning experiences.  My goal is that each of my students try something new and become respectful, independent learners, while having fun.

When I am not at school, I enjoy time at home with my family, pets, and friends.  I love to read books, travel, hike, go for long walks, and see movies. I know this year will be successful and look forward to meeting you.

To put it simply, I really enjoy teaching.  I love to work with children, to expand their minds with new ideas and  earning, to bring children together in a caring class community.  I feel very lucky to spend my days in the company of enthusiastic, bright, innocent yet wise young people.  Coyote Creek is an excellent school and it is a great joy to work here.  I enjoy travel, the arts, languages, and life in the Bay Area.  I look forward to knowing you!

I love being a part of the Coyote Creek family and am thrilled to be back in 4th grade this year.  My previous teaching years were in Foster City where I taught for the San Mateo/Foster City School District in both 2nd and 4th grade, and for the Central Valley School District in Spokane, WA where I taught K and 5th grade.  I received my Bachelors degree from Carroll in Elementary Education with a Minor in Reading and my Masters in Education from Gonzaga University (GO ZAGS!).  In my classroom, I want my students to feel successful as they build their foundation of learning while exploring and sharing with others.  Outside of school, I enjoy spending time with my family and friends, trying out new recipes, and traveling.  I'm looking forward to yet another fantastic year!

Ever since I was a little kid, I spent time playing “teacher” in my mom’s classroom.  I fell in love with everything about teaching as I grew up.  I spent time as a wedding coordinator and then decided to go back to school and follow my passion to teach.  I graduated with my BA in Liberal Studies with an emphasis in Early Childhood Development from CSU Chico and then moved on to get my Multiple Subjects Teaching Credential from CSU Monterey Bay.

My family is my support system and mean the world to me.  I love to run, travel, and just try new things.  I am so excited to be a part of the Coyote Creek team and community!
